Wenn ein klinisch relevanter Katarakt vorliegt, liegt das optische Problem innerhalb der natürlichen Augenlinse. Eine primäre Laserbehandlung der Hornhaut löst dieses Problem nicht. Deshalb steht normalerweise die Linsenoperation im Vordergrund.
Nach Implantation einer Kunstlinse kann jedoch eine kleine verbleibende Fehlsichtigkeit unter geeigneten Voraussetzungen durchaus mit einem Hornhautlaser korrigiert werden.
If a clinically relevant cataract is present, the optical problem lies within the natural crystalline lens. Primary laser treatment of the cornea does not solve this problem. Lens surgery therefore normally takes priority.
After implantation of an artificial lens, however, a small residual refractive error can – under suitable conditions – certainly be corrected with a corneal laser.
