Eine moderne Monofokallinse kann hervorragende optische Qualität für eine bestimmte Entfernung liefern. EDOF-Systeme versuchen, den Bereich des scharfen Sehens zu erweitern. Multifokale, trifokale und Full-Range-of-Vision-Systeme verfolgen eine möglichst große Brillenunabhängigkeit über mehrere Entfernungen. Mit zunehmender optischer Multifunktionalität können jedoch optische Kompromisse entstehen.
Deshalb muss vor einer Premiumlinsenimplantation geklärt werden: Was ist dem Patienten wichtiger? Maximale optische Reinheit? Möglichst wenig Brille? Lesen ohne Brille? Computerarbeit? Nachtfahren?
Diese Fragen sind häufig wichtiger als der Markenname der Linse.

A modern monofocal lens can deliver excellent optical quality for one specific distance. EDOF systems aim to extend the range of sharp vision. Multifocal, trifocal and full-range-of-vision systems pursue maximal spectacle independence across several distances. With increasing optical multifunctionality, however, optical compromises may arise.
Before premium lens implantation, it must therefore be clarified what matters more to the patient: maximal optical purity? As little spectacle wear as possible? Reading without glasses? Computer work? Night driving?
These questions are often more important than the brand name of the lens.
