Weitsichtigkeit ist laserchirurgisch nur begrenzt korrigierbar – typischerweise bis etwa +3 bis +4 Dioptrien, mit tendenziell höherer Regression als bei Myopie. Für höhere Hyperopien sind phake Linsen deshalb oft die überlegene Lösung.
Hyperope Augen sind meist kürzer und haben engere Vorderkammern. Genau hier muss besonders sorgfältig gemessen werden: Vorderkammertiefe und Kammerwinkel entscheiden, ob eine phake Linse sicher implantiert werden kann.
Bei klassischen hyperopen phaken Linsen war eine zusätzliche Iridotomie (kleine Laseröffnung in der Regenbogenhaut) nötig, um den Kammerwasserfluss zu sichern. Biotech bietet die Eyecryl-Plattform auch in der hyperopen Version mit zentralem Aquaport an – die zentrale Öffnung in der Linse übernimmt die Flusskorrektur, eine separate Iridotomie entfällt. Das vereinfacht den Ablauf für den Patienten und vermeidet die möglichen Nebenwirkungen einer Iridotomie.
Dennoch gilt bei Hyperopie mehr als überall sonst: Die Eignung entscheidet sich an der Anatomie der Vorderkammer – nicht am Wunsch nach Brillenfreiheit.
Hyperopia can only be corrected by laser to a limited extent – typically up to about +3 to +4 dioptres, with a tendency towards more regression than in myopia. For higher hyperopia, phakic lenses are therefore often the superior solution.
Hyperopic eyes are usually shorter with narrower anterior chambers. This is exactly where measurement must be particularly careful: anterior chamber depth and angle determine whether a phakic lens can be implanted safely.
With classic hyperopic phakic lenses, an additional iridotomy (a small laser opening in the iris) was required to secure aqueous flow. Biotech offers the Eyecryl platform in its hyperopic version with a central Aquaport – the central opening in the lens manages the flow, and a separate iridotomy becomes unnecessary. This simplifies the process for the patient and avoids the potential side effects of an iridotomy.
Nevertheless, in hyperopia more than anywhere else: suitability is determined by the anatomy of the anterior chamber – not by the wish for spectacle independence.
